Yale Avenue HazMat
On June 5th just after 8 p.m., South Metro received an emergency call from an individual stating they were experiencing a substance exposure at one of the Ascent Apartment buildings located in the 8400 block of E. Yale Ave. When members from Engine 21 arrived, they began investigating to locate the substance and if there was a larger threat to other building occupants. Members from Medic 211 evaluated the individual who was exposed and transported them to the hospital in stable condition. Due to the unknown nature of the ingredients mixed into the substance, crews evacuated nearby apartments units out of precaution for potential off gassing concerns. SMFR’s HazMat Technicians were able to mitigate the substance safely and no further injuries or exposures occurred.
