South Marshall St. Garage Fire
At 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, 911 callers reported a house on fire with people still inside, in the 7000 block of S. Marshall St. in Jefferson County. Upon arrival, members from Engine and Medic 13 found the attached garage fully engulfed with flames and deployed a hose line for fire suppression. The resident confirmed that everyone was outside, but two adults had received burn injuries. Those individuals were transported by Fire Medics to a local hospital, one with serious injuries and the other with minor injuries. When additional members arrived, 2 more hose lines were pulled to assist with fire suppression in the attic and on the roof. Members conducted vertical ventilation and were successful in preventing the fire from spreading into the living spaces of the home. All interior searches checked clear, and crews remained on scene for a couple hours extinguishing hot spots. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire.
