South Parker Road 2nd Alarm Multi Family Structure Fire
At 12:21 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022, Local members from 2086, 858 and 1290 responded to numerous reports of a multi-family building on fire at 1300 S. Parker Rd. While crews were enroute, dispatchers relayed reports of people trapped inside the burning building and a 2nd Alarm was response was called. Upon arrival, members Engine 21 observed a second and third floor balcony engulfed with flames and quickly deployed a hose line to slow fire extension. Meanwhile, additional members advanced hose lines into the building while Sheriff Deputies worked to rescue as many residents as they could. Heavy smoke filled the upper floors which forced many residents out to their balconies where they were assisted to safety by members on ground ladders. Crews contended with high heat and zero visibility inside as they extinguished the flames and searched for people trapped inside. Over 15 people were evaluated by paramedics and 3 were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Unfortunately, 85 individual units were displaced because of this incident, and those families are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
