Dry Creek Road Multi Family Structure Fire
At 10:24 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022, Local members responded to a fire alarm activation at the Rail Apartments, located at 10001 E. Dry Creek Road. Upon arrival members found water flowing from the fire sprinkler system and light smoke with an electrical odor. The incident was upgraded to a working structure fire and additional units and personnel were dispatched. Members located active flames above a first-floor breezeway and beneath apartments on the second floor. The stubborn fire was difficult to access and fully extinguish. 4 additional Engines over the 1st Alarm response were requested for additional personnel. Members worked from above and below the fire to fully extinguish it and the incident was placed under control about an hour after crews arrived. Thankfully no injuries occurred, and apartment management is assisting any displaced residents with housing. Support personnel including Emergency Management, Emergency Vehicle Technicians from Fleet, Incident Dispatch and Logistics all responded to the scene. Fire Investigators determined that an electrical malfunction in a heater caused this fire.
