Lone Tree HazMat Incident

An attempted fuel theft resulted in a diesel spill and hazardous materials response in Lone Tree on Monday morning of August 1st. Just before 11:30 a.m. Local members responded to 8457 S. Yosemite St. after a box truck with a leaking fuel tank was discovered. Members quickly patched a hole in the tank to prevent more fuel from spilling and they checked a nearby storm drain where diesel had pooled. Members from the Hazardous Materials Team used a siphon to pump out a water shut off valve tube that was submerged in fuel and Southgate Water used a vacuum to remove fuel from the storm drain. Crews estimate that around 35 gallons spilled. Thankfully no injuries or fire occurred as a result of this incident and Lone Tree Police Department is investigating the crime.
